The NourishFix meal planner
Privacy notice
Last updated: 10 October 2026
The short version. Everything you tell NourishFix about your health, your household and your meals stays in the browser on your device. There are no accounts, we can’t see your plans (unless you share a household plan by link, and then only what to cook and serve, never why), and there’s no advertising, tracking or cookies. A few features send limited information to our server, only when you use them, and never your health answers. They’re listed below, with how long anything is kept. If you subscribe, our reseller Lemon Squeezy handles the payment; that’s covered below too.
This notice covers the NourishFix planner at app.nourishfix.com and its pages at nourishfix.com/planner. The articles and tools on the rest of nourishfix.com aren’t covered by it.
Who we are
NourishFix is run by an individual, its founder, not by a company (“we”, “us”). For anything about your privacy, email hello@nourishfix.com.
What stays on your device
Your answers and plans are saved in your browser’s own storage on your device. This includes:
- your goals and health details, such as diabetes, blood pressure, PMOS (formerly PCOS), GLP‑1 medicines, kidney disease, insulin use, pregnancy and eating-disorder history;
- allergies, intolerances, your diet and the foods you don’t eat;
- the people in your household that you add, with their ages, needs and what they eat;
- your meal plans, ratings, notes, kitchen, budget, shopping lists, saved meals and imported recipes.
We never receive this information. It stays until you clear it in the app, clear your browser’s data, or remove the app. Because it lives only on your device, we can’t recover it for you. To keep a backup file, tap Your data on the start screen, then Save a copy. That file is yours; keep it somewhere safe, as it holds your health details.
The app also keeps a copy of its own files on your device so it opens without signal. That copy holds the app, not your information.
What leaves your device, and why
| When you | What is sent | What we keep, and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| Share a shopping list | The items on the list: ingredient names, amounts, shop sections, ticks and items you add. Never your plan or health details. | The list, until 60 days after its last change, or until you stop sharing it. Anyone with the link can see it, and change it if the link allows. |
| Share a household plan (Household Meal Adapter) | The plan as your household sees it: meal names and times, each person’s name as you entered it (and the name you choose for yourself), what’s different on each person’s plate without the reason (for example “tofu instead of turkey”), the steps and amounts, and the Done ticks and 👍 / 👎 ratings made on it. Never anyone’s health focus, conditions, guides, allergies or your answers. | The plan, until 60 days after its last change, or until you stop sharing it. Anyone with the link can see it, tick meals as done and rate them. |
| Import a recipe from a web address | The web address. Our server fetches the page and passes the recipe straight back to your device. | Nothing: not the address, not the recipe. The recipe website sees our server, not you. |
| Add a recipe with an ingredient the app doesn’t know | The ingredient’s name, which our server looks up in the US Department of Agriculture’s FoodData Central, and its line from the recipe, used only to pick the right food (for example canned or fresh). The line is never kept. | For that ingredient name: the food it matched, for 30 days, so the next person asking gets it straight away, and a count of how often it was asked for, until a year after it was last asked for; we use it to add common ingredients to the app. Neither holds anything from your recipe or is linked to you. |
| Send feedback, or a report from the “something went wrong” screen | Your message, the topic you chose, and your email only if you give one. If you leave the box ticked: the screen you were on, your browser and device type, screen size, text size, whether the app is installed, and for a report, the error details. | The newest 2,000 messages. |
Recipes you import stay on your device. They’re never stored on our server or shared with anyone. A shared household plan shows an imported meal only as one of your own recipes, without its name, steps or amounts, and a shared shopping list holds what to buy, not the recipe.
Anonymous usage counts. During the beta, the app sends small counts so we can see whether it’s working for people, for example “a household plan was made”, “the shopping list was opened” or “someone came back in their 4th week”. Each count is only an event name from a fixed list, sometimes with a planner type or a week number. It carries no account, cookie, device ID or address, and never your goals, conditions or answers. To count return visits, your device keeps the date you first used the app and sends only how many weeks have passed. We keep daily totals for 400 days.
Error reports. If the app hits an error, it sends a short report so we can fix it: the error message, where in the app’s code it happened, which planner was open, the app version, and your browser and device type. Before sending, the app blanks any quoted text in the message (which could be something you typed), removes everything after the page name in web addresses, and hides email addresses; our server does the same again. Reports never include your answers, plans, names or meals, and carry no identifier. Reports of the same error are grouped, and deleted 90 days after that error was last seen.
You can turn off usage counts and error reports on the start screen: tap Your data and untick the box.
If you subscribe
Paying. Subscriptions are sold by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, on its own checkout page. It collects your name, email, billing address and payment details, and uses them under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. In Lemon Squeezy’s dashboard we can see your name, email, country, what you bought, what you paid and whether your subscription is active. We use that only to provide your subscription, answer you if you contact us, and keep the tax and accounting records the law requires, for as long as it requires them. It is never linked to anything you enter in the planner.
Your licence key. When you enter your key, the planner sends it to our server, which asks Lemon Squeezy whether it’s valid and passes back only the answer: whether it’s active, which plan, when it renews and how many devices use it. Lemon Squeezy records the device as “NourishFix on” followed by its type (such as iPhone or Windows), so you can recognise it in your list of devices. The planner checks the key again about once a week. Our server keeps nothing from these checks. The key and its answer are saved on your device, and Remove from this device deletes them.
Protecting the server. To stop anyone overloading the server, it counts requests from each visitor for a short time. It keeps only a scrambled (salted and hashed) form of your internet address for this, deleted after about an hour.
Our host. The planner and its pages are hosted by Hostinger, which runs our server, database and content delivery network. Like any web host, it receives your internet address and browser details when you visit, and keeps its own technical logs under its own terms. Our host may store and process data in countries other than yours. The planner’s typeface is served from our own site, so no other company is contacted when you use it.
Why we use this information
| Use | Legal basis (UK and EU law) |
|---|---|
| Shared lists and plans, recipe imports and food lookups | To provide the feature you asked for |
| Feedback and reports you send | Our legitimate interest in answering you and improving the app; your email only if you choose to give it |
| Usage counts and error reports | Our legitimate interest in seeing whether the app works and fixing it; you can turn them off |
| Your subscription and licence checks | To provide the subscription you bought; keeping tax and accounting records because the law requires it |
| Protecting the server, and host logs | Our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and running |
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-in or passwords.
- No advertising or tracking, and no analytics beyond the anonymous counts above, which you can turn off.
- No cookies.
- We never sell or share your information.
Household members and children
If you add other people, including children, their details stay on your device like yours. Only add people who are happy for you to do so, or whom you look after. NourishFix is meant for adults aged 18 and over; it isn’t designed for children to use on their own.
Who processes data for us
- Hostinger hosts the planner, runs our server and database, and delivers the pages.
- Lemon Squeezy sells subscriptions as our reseller, takes payments, handles tax and checks licence keys. It is responsible for the payment details it collects.
- US Department of Agriculture FoodData Central answers food lookups. It receives only the ingredient name from our server, never anything about you.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you: a feedback message with your email, if you sent one, your subscription details in Lemon Squeezy, if you subscribed, and shared lists and household plans you made, which you can delete yourself with Stop sharing. Email hello@nourishfix.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or the authority in your EU country.
Keeping data safe
Connections to our server are encrypted. Shared lists and plans can only be reached with their private link, and you can replace a link at any time. The pages we use to read feedback and counts are protected by a secret key.
Changes to this notice
If we change what leaves your device, we’ll update this notice and say so in the app before the change takes effect.
